June 30 2009
The Royal Institute of British Architects has appointed Harry Rich as its new Chief Executive, with effect from October 2009.Rich brings a wealth of experience to bear from Enterprise Insight, where his leadership brought about a restructuring of the organisation.
Whether Rich will have a similar impact upon the RIBA isn’t yet clear.
Sunand Prasad, RIBA President and Chair of the selection panel, said: “In Harry Rich we have found a Chief Executive who will build on the achievements of Richard Hastilow’s time at the RIBA, while responding with imagination and determination to the changed circumstances in which architecture as much as any profession finds itself."
Born in Birmingham, Rich studied law prior to starting up his own electrical distribution business and currently sits on the Press Complaints Commission’s Charter Compliance Panel, is a governor of the University for the Creative Arts and an Advisory Council member for the Design Management Institute (USA).
