Back to the future for Apex hotel
June 12 2009
Ian Springford Architects have completed their re-modelling of a Grade A listed office building to accommodate a 187 bedroom four star hotel. The refurbishment marks a real blast from the past for a building that was originally designed as a hotel when completed in 1819.
No run of the mill establishment, this was the first purpose built hotel in Scotland and offered an environment where: “Strangers could see the manners of the people and mix with the Society of the place.”
A similar spirit is embodied within the walls of Springford’s 21st Century revamp, ensuring that modern day explorers will still be able to observe both custom and mannerisms of the denizens of Auld Reekie from the comfort of an opulent and well appointed retreat.
