Figure of eight for £10m lottery cash

The Heritage Lottery Fund have announced a £10m pot to boost run down town centre’s across the UK. Eight downs will benefit from the award, amongst them Rothesay on the Isle of Bute.Forming part of the Townscape Heritage Initiative (THI) a £1.55m sum will help contribute toward local conservation work and re-use of listed buildings in areas with serious social and economic needs.
Previously THI had helped restore the Rochead Building, Tron Steeple and the City Halls/Fruit Market complex in Glasgow’s Merchant City.
