Black and white compete on Skye
April 23 2009
Rural Design has unveiled their antithesis to the clichéd white Highland cottage, the Black Shed.
Taking its cue from agricultural buildings which dot the picturesque landscape the small, affordable home has been designed as a prototype for similar development throughout the Western Isles.
Rough spruce boards and a low pitched roof enclose a deep plan home, defined by a dramatic “cut-out” to create both an entrance space and connection with surrounding moorland landscape.
This relationship is enhanced further with the use of sheeps wool insulation, providing a direct link between man and nature.
