City Architecture Office see clear path ahead
April 7 2009
City Architecture Office have received detailed planning permission for change of use and new build on an historic site in the village of Pathhead. The proposal for Tait and Thomson Property Development seeks refurbishment and extension of existing category C(S) listed terrace buildings in the Conservation Area to form two residential properties, without impinging upon the established building pattern and historic context.
New build exploits a loft layout and is arranged over two levels to marry the odd angles of the plot, maximise daylight and provide a distinct sense of place.
Perimeter masonry walls define the ground floor with openings onto a private courtyard space and the surrounding countryside while the first floor is set back from the boundary and aligned to reinforce the rectilinear form of traditional housing in the village.
Pathhead is scheduled for completion in October 2009.
