Arcade Architects have successfully extended Bankton Primary in Livingston for West Lothian Council by forming an enlarged hall to act as “heart” for the expanded school by accommodating assembly and space for sport and drama.

In addition a nursery has been fashioned alongside additional classrooms to meet the needs of a growing community.

The nursery is constructed to a child scale to allow children to benefit from window seating and soak up the surrounding landscape.

Natural lighting diffuses throughout via a high level structural glazing and floor to ceiling windows opening to the playground.

The design incorporates brown brick, white render and western red cedar cladding, together with highlight coloured elements.
