Hall's a boon for Dunoon
April 7 2009
John McAslan & Partners are to host an open day at the Burgh Hall, Dunoon on Saturday May 2 from 10:00 to 18:00.A day long extravaganza will showcase the value of the Burgh Halls to the local community with live music, highland dancing, exhibitions, an arts and crafts competition, café and stalls.
The Burgh Hall is in process of transformation by the John McAslan Family Trust in partnership with the Friends of the Burgh Hall to provide new community facilities for the coastal town.
Built in 1874 the grade B listed Burgh Hall is a local landmark designed in the Scots Baronial style by Robert Alexander Bryden. Lately it has fallen into a state of disrepair however with remedial works costed at £2.3m.
Should this fundraising challenge be met the Halls could be fully restored by 2014.
