Cottiers prayers answered
April 1 2009
Sod cutting has taken place at the Cottier Theatre, formerly Dowanhill Parish Church, marking the second phase of ongoing lottery funded efforts to transform the venue into a theatre, since first acquired in 1984 by Four Acres Charitable Trust.Work being undertaken by McKean & Company and Hudson Group will secure the internal integrity of the hall, bringing to an end a history of damp ingress and secure the future of artwork designed by the world famous Cottier.
In addition a new basement level will be created to provide plant, service, storage and toilet facilities.
The team, headed up by McKean’s Ronnie Canning, bring past experience to bear from the Tron Church refurbishment and are working to a plan designed by Groves Raines Architects.
