Lee Boyd buoyed by Wallace Monument
March 20 2009
Lee Boyd Architects are celebrating the successful completion of their Wallace Monument visitor centre, a £500k redevelopment of an existing outdated reception building for Stirling District Tourism.Amongst improvements offered by the facility are the provision of the “Legends” coffee house, open views to the monument and removal of a Braveheart inspired sculpture of Mel Gibson, rumours abound that the Hollywood stars effigy lies buried in the foundations.
Subject of sustained vandalism the unfortunate Gibson had been imprisoned in a cage, somewhat ironic given his plinths inscription, “Freedom.”
