Bathgate pushes fine design
March 11 2009
Lindsay house, in the centre of Bathgate, is in line for an ambitious makeover to provide a library, community facilities and council offices.Staff are due to decant the poor quality structure in favour of a purpose built civic centre in Livingstone, paving the way for an ambitious rebuild.
The flash makeover dovetails with a newly unveiled Bathgate Public Realm Design Guide and Design Framework, a publication aimed at promoting high quality urban design and public realm enhancements.
Suggested works include coordinating streetscape appearance, preserving local character and providing town centre “gateways.”
Work on the proposal should be completed by 2011.
