Hotel's swell
December 22 2008
Aurora Hotels are set to bring some northern light to Larbert thanks to the enterprise of managing director Steven McLeod. The Stirling based hotelier has lodged plans with Falkirk council for a 220 bed hotel and spa.The existing five star Glenbervie House Hotel and estate will be expanded to make way for the £75m complex which will also feature a 1,200 capacity ballroom and an auditorium for 600.
Detached homes and apartments, both upmarket and affordable, will be provided in the grounds of nearby Maclaren Park with land set aside for a new slip road onto the nearby M9.
McLeod iterated that now was the best time to proceed, saying: "Our hotels are successful because we never rip off customers. The recession could be an advantage as construction costs have come down, and by the time it is completed, I hope by Christmas 2010, conditions will have improved. In the meantime we will have provided good quality jobs for local people who badly need them given what's been happening in the housebuilding sector."
