More homes to build out Battlefield Rest junction

CRGP Architects and Sanctuary Scotland have produced new plans for a large gap site south of the new Victoria Hospital in Langside, Glasgow.
Replacing a previous approval for an over 55's apartment block, the latest plans envisage a mix of 46 one and two-bedroom apartments for social rent, which pick up where the newly completed Old Victoria housing development opposite left off.
In a planning statement, CRGP wrote: "... the significance of the Battlefield Junction and the B Listed Battlefield Rest is essential when considering the development of the design.
"With the existing flat car park on the site, this boundary is ill-defined and feels off balance. Historically, the Queens Park School featured a 2-3 storey building right on the corner. The design has been developed to re-create this strong perimeter, frame the view on approach towards Battlefield Rest and reinstate it as the central, focal point to the junction."
Addressing the junction with a feature corner, adjoined by two smaller scale blocks, with the gaps between channelling two through routes to the Old Victoria site. The ground floor area will be unified by a double-height horizontal band defining the main entrances and linking to adjoining blocks in the form of a collonade.

Those strange/deep cut-outs at ground floor level on the corner block and those wide, unsupervised pends giving transverse access across the site. A mugger's / p*ssers paradise (Hampden). What were they thinking? They clearly haven't had a Secured by Design audit yet.
