Edinburgh Airport plays Tetris as new hotels stack up
March 3 2025
Riverstone Hotels and the Royal Highland & Agricultural Society of Scotland have presented plans for a 218-bed hotel at Edinburgh Airport.
Positioned to the immediate south of the recently built Moxy Hotel and Hampton by Hilton the latest short-stay accommodation will front Eastfield Road and will be operated under the Premier Inn brand. Comprehensive Design Architects (CDA) are overseeing the development of five-storey L-plan block, presenting a uniform facade of grey metal aluminium cladding on approach to the terminal.
In a materials statement, CDA wrote: "The base course is a proposed blue brick whilst the upper levels are grey and blue aluminium horizontal cladding. A horizontal rhythm is formed with feature cladding defining the fenestration pattern. Windows shall be dark grey framed to compliment the metal cladding panel. This is consistent on each elevation creating a continuous language around the building. Dark metal louvres are proposed at roof level to screen rooftop plant."
Solar panels will be installed to offset energy demand as part of a sustainability strategy to achieve a BREEAM 'Excellent' rating.
