Works underway on first private homes at Edinburgh Park

Work to deliver the first private residential homes at Edinburgh Park has begun in earnest with S1 Developments moving on site.

A key component of the broader 42-acre masterplan by Parabola the well-connected apartment complex will be served by two tram stops and a train station with ready access to shops and services and even a concert venue.

Ranging from one to three bedrooms the flats will serve as the kernel of a new residential district including affordable properties, townhouses and build-to-rent accommodation.

In a statement, the developer wrote: "S1 will develop the residential homes for sale at Edinburgh Park as part of the vision to create a new urban quarter that will not only become an exciting place to live and work, but also a cultural destination and creative campus for Edinburgh."

The project is being delivered by masterplan architect Dixon Jones with Sutherland Hussey Harris and HTA Design.

It will be interesting to see if they can actually get access to shops and services - where are they proposed? The Gyle is just up the road, but there's nowt in the immediate neighbourhood vacinity. I can't quite see a detailed masterplan online - UR can you oblige or anyone?
First test of a 20-minute neighbourhood ?

Hi Roddy - you can find the masterplan on the planning portal, copied below. Primary routes and spaces will include ground floor retail and leisure facilities as well as workshops, sports, community and amenity areas. Note that the consent combines use classes for retail, services and food/drink so these can be moved around.

I've added an active frontage diagram and phasing plan for the southern residential expansion.

This is actually quite an interesting idea. They have the footfall from the offices to help support non resi. It is quite an interesting concept to add resi to and existing business park that will form a natural 'centre'.
