'Boutique' build to expand Barrhead

Briar Homes, a division of AS Homes, has obtained planning consent from East Renfrewshire Council to deliver a 'boutique' development of 39 homes in Barrhead.

Land near Lyoncross Farm on Aurs Road has been earmarked for the build, neighbouring Dams to Darnley Country Park, in a proposal that was approved just before the holiday break.

Paul Kelly, managing director of Briar Homes, said: “There is an acute need for high quality homes in Scotland and following our sell out success of Eden Grove, we’re excited to return to Barrhead and create a new community.

“It’s great to secure planning at Aurs Road which will enable works to begin on site in the early part of 2025.”

Working with George Buchanan Architects the developer will retain a listed farmhouse and protected trees while delivering a range of four and five-bedroom detached properties.

Do people like brown brick buildings? It’s not 1980. What’s boutique here? It’s just the same estate that could be anywhere. Scotland has a strong tradition of using
stone and render.

Depressing to think that people like Paul Kelly influence how people will have to live their lives. It looks like Brookside. Barrhead hoses at Newton Mearns prices.

Soon , there won't be a Country Park.
If the development sprawl continues like it has on the eastern side of the M77.
