Throsk haulier steers new head office through planning
December 16 2024
Throsk-based haulier H&R Gray has applied for planning in principle to erect a logistics and storage hub at Bandeath industrial estate.
The haulier has engaged Houghton Planning and Moving Still Architecture for the works, which will expand their existing premises with new workshops, industrial units and offices. A weighbridge, diesel & hydrogen refuelling tanks and solar farm are also proposed.
In a development statement, the applicant wrote: "H & R Gray, like all haulage companies, are in the process of transitioning away from the use of diesel vehicles towards the use of electric vehicles (vans and small lorries) and eventually hydrogen (HGVs).
"To help with this transition, all the roofs of the buildings on site will be covered with solar panels to maximise the amount of energy produced on site. Ground mounted solar will also be considered."
The phased development will include a new head office for the firm, with native woodland planting to help screen warehouse buildings of up to 130m by 30m.
