Meadowbank transformation continues with student influx

Plans have been put forward for the latest student housing development at Jock's Lodge, complementary to a separate seven-storey build on the plot next door.
Primus Property Group and HIG Realty Partners have appointed ADP Architecture to draft concept proposals for a key Edinburgh crossroads in the ongoing transformation process sparked by the revitalisation of Meadowbank Stadium, with hundreds of homes planned for sites to the west and north.
Building out a courtyard block off London Road by tying in with the Stallan-Brand build the latest seven-storey addition includes rooftop and courtyard facing amenity spaces.
In a consultation statement explaining their developing design ADP wrote: "Hierarchy is introduced to the perimeter building by articulating the primary blocks at the key street frontages and incorporating secondary elements inbetween. This relates to the anticipated form of the masterplan and employs a vertical rhythm which is in keeping with that of the surrounding streets.
"The removed building mass enables additional sunlight to reach the central courtyard and takes account of the site topography and the neighbouring Alumno proposal to establish an eaves level appropriate to the each of the main streets."
A planning application is expected in February for a site start by summer 2026.
