Mews development to improve kerb appeal of a litter-strewn West End lane
December 3 2024
The team behind a planned mews development at Sandyford Place Lane in Glasgow's West End have doubled down on their proposals for a detached dwelling by progressing a second application for a pair of semi-detached properties.
The latest proposals from Klash Properties and Ink Design show plans for two homes on a brownfield site on the edge of the Park conservation area, each incorporating an integral garage and private amenity.
In a planning statement, Ink wrote: "Currently Sandyford Place Lane, in particular the eastern half of the lane, is a mess in comparison to the other lanes within the immediate area. Bins are left out, overflowing, causing a nuisance and health & safety concern.
"The introduction of the proposed dwelling on the lane will only enhance the lane and act as a catalyst for additional development helping create a safe and secure environment, providing all-round surveillance stopping loitering, anti-social behaviour and littering and helping form a community similar to the Berkley Terrace Lane Association."
Finished in natural sandstone under a slate roof to enhance the mews character of the lane the application stresses the need to restore uniformity to an area subject to ad hoc development and office car parking.
