Housing crisis spurs delivery of 21 affordable Aberdour homes

A £4.8m contract to build 21 affordable homes in Aberdour, has been signed by CALA Homes on behalf of Fife Council.

Work will begin on a mix of cottage flats and terraces in January as part of the Inchcolm Green development, masterplanned by EMA, for completion in 2026.

Slotting into the existing estate of 63 private homes the affordable component is being funded by the local authority to help alleviate a housing emergency in the region.

Cllr Judy Hamilton commented: “I am delighted that in the face of a housing emergency, we are continuing to deliver our ambitious Affordable Housing Programme, one of the UK's largest social house-building programmes, while the pressure on housing services continues to be relentlessly high."

A separate development of Aberdour's Hillside School is set to bring another 190 homes to the area.

Total failure and mismanagement on all levels here:

Why are we still building on green land?

Why is the council paying a conglomerate private developer to build houses for it?

Why do they not build them themselves?

Why use a group of entities that potentially has a huge vested interest (very well documented) in creating a housing shortage for extra profit to try to solve the very problem it creates?

Why are we still building out of town car bound development (and no lithium powered vehicles do not get you off the hook)?

Why are housing units costing £228K+ each to build plus no doubt various ancillary costs with land on top as well for what will likely be small, badly designed and badly built units?

Why do we have a housing crisis in a rich country full of empty buildings?

Why do people think if they say something is a success it is a success even if it is not?

Return to start and repeat ad infinitum until nothing is left.....
