Kirkcaldy community hub replacement filed for planning

The final form of a planned community hub in Kirkcaldy has been revealed in a formal planning application.

AHR Architects is working with Fife Council to replace the Argos Centre with a £15m meeting hall and library, to be delivered by BAM Construction. A range of flexible accommodation suitable for functions and events is proposed for the Templehall Community Hub, as well as an external games area.

In a materials statement, AHR wrote: "A ‘Moss Grey’ feature colour is to appear throughout the building's external facade to link design elements together. This is seen on the entrance canopy and curtain walling fins and ties back to the high-level cladding around the games hall. "All glazing and door framing is to be done in a simple grey to allow the Moss Grey feature colour to pop."

Finished in buff brickwork the hall will utilise alternating brick panels to add visual interest to the ground floor.

Natural earthen tones have been specified to match the Fair Isle Family Nurture Centre, also by AHR
