Townhouses help populate Edinburgh Airport environs

A housebuilder is turning to vertical living on the western edge of Edinburgh by launching a selection of three-floor townhouses.

West Craigs Green by Cruden builds on the appeal of urban living with two house styles offering 1,248sq/ft and 1,301sq/ft of space under a traditional pitched roof.

Hazel Davies, sales and marketing director at Cruden Homes, said: “Our West Craigs Green development offers versatile, high-quality homes suited to the needs of modern homeowners. From our elegant apartments ideal for downsizers and first-time buyers, to newly launched townhouses designed with modern family living in mind — these are all within easy reach of Edinburgh yet also have great access to lots of green open space."

Designs by Ian Springford Architects give potential buyers a choice of an open plan kitchen and living space or a separate living room, the latter style reserving the top floor for a principal bedroom and ensuite.

All homes are to be clad in light grey textured facing brick.

Sold for half a million despite having no attempt placemaking or soul. The difference in quality between private developments and Housing Association builds is galling.

Cheap southern English brick is never a good look. Scotland and northern England have a proud and long tradition of using stone. These cheap and ugly designs are an attacks visually and culturally on our city.
