Colonies-style affordable housing takes shape at Muirhouse

Cruden has broken ground on 143 affordable homes in Muirhouse for the City of Edinburgh Council, including colony-style housing and wheelchair-accessible properties.

Project architects Smith Scott Mullan Associates have pledged to retain as many mature trees as possible for the project, on the site of the former Silverlea care home.

Part of the broader Granton Waterfront regeneration the net zero carbon development stands on the edge of the green belt and dovetails with Cruden's plans to deliver 184 homes at Jedburgh and Toryglen.

Kevin Reid, executive chairman of Cruden commented: “Our continued work with affordable housing providers such as Wheatley Group and SBHA is vital in addressing Scotland’s ongoing housing crisis, ensuring that everyone has access to high-quality, affordable homes within their community."

A replacement football pavilion is proposed for Craigroyston Community Youth FC is also being provided.
