Electric vehicle hub to supercharge Queensferry

A major housing development at Queensferry, Edinburgh, is to host a dedicated electric vehicle 'supercharging hub' alongside a traditional filling station and commercial space.

The plans form part of the final phase of Bridgewater Village by CALA Homes, which will see 217 homes rise at the foot of the Forth Road Bridge and Queensferry Crossing.

Operated by BP Pulse, the electric arm of the oil and gas giant, the refuelling hub sits within a developing neighbourhood of over 1,000 new homes as well as a school, care home and green space.

Derek Lawson, strategic land director at Cala Homes (East), said: "This agreement with BP marks a significant step forward for the commercial component of Bridgewater Village.

“It will be an excellent resource for those living here and the wider community, and ensures that the masterplan development forms a positive extension of Queensferry, with a broad mix of new homes complementing the commercial elements.”

The scheme follows the development of a similar forecourt in Rutherglen, ushering in a new era of road travel.
