Hundreds of homes see Edinburgh Park evolve as an urban neighbourhood

Ambitions to introduce a residential flavour to Edinburgh Park are set to begin in earnest by the second quarter of 2025, with confirmation of a site start date by the developer behind it.

S1 Developments is delivering the residential component of an overarching 42-acre masterplan conceived by Parabola that will include affordable homes, townhouses and properties serving the build-to-rent market.

In a project update, S1 wrote: "Every home is thoughtfully planned and intelligently designed using durable, high-quality materials. Many homes have private terraces and balconies with breathtaking views over landscaped courtyards or across to the Pentland Hills. The neighbourhood will have access to immediate local facilities, open and green spaces throughout, fostering a sense of community."

Branded as the New Village the development of 397 apartments and mews houses will be powered by all-electric and fossil-free energy sources upon completion at the end of 2027.

The residential district, a key component of the broader district which will include an 8,500-capacity concert venue, is being delivered by masterplan architect Dixon Jones with Sutherland Hussey Harris and HTA Design.

Witness the grimness. Someone please take these architects on a field trip to see high density developments. This is what the looked like circa 2010.

Looks like a Lego version of Pruitt-Igoe.
