Blair Drummond sports centre to promote wellbeing

A sports and activity centre at Blair Drummond House, a B-listed baronial pile near Stirling, has been put forward for planning approval by Camphill Blair Drummond Trust.

Camphill, a global movement to provide residential and daycare services to young adults with learning difficulties, has enlisted Robert Potter & Partners to deliver the activity centre within an established woodland clearing.

Part of a broader capital plan for the estate the works will help to promote health and wellbeing, housing a variety of racquet and ball games.

Outlining their intent behind the sports centre the applicant wrote: "The building form is simple and economic with a large span portal frame providing structure for games/sports/play areas and support facilities. The remote location of this building and its screening by woodland provides an opportunity for a more playful expression in keeping with the building’s activity and status as a destination."

Finished in render and timber effect cladding boards the building is entered via a low-key single-storey front door.
