New home to skirt the rural fringe of Bishopbriggs

A Bishopbriggs landowner is seeking planning consent to build a 289sq/m home on the town's suburban fringe.

Cuiltean off Auchinairn Road will see a private house replace a recently demolished dwelling to designs by S2 Architecture. Working within the confines of the existing plot to avoid impinging on the green belt the home will utilise a muted palette of blonde sandstone, anthracite metal and charred timber.

The T-plan property focuses on a generous open-plan kitchen, living and dining space with a separate family room, playroom and bedroom located in the central arm. A further four bedrooms are positioned on the floor above.

In a planning statement, the architects wrote: "S2 Architecture has been appointed by the landowner to review their existing land and establish proposals for a new-build house that takes into account the location, surroundings and character of the area."

The latest plans follow a previously consented courtyard-style home and include a triple garage outhouse positioned towards the road.

Why so dark?

Seems like it is a fairly pleasant looking house, so not sure why you would want to show it off at its best. However, S2 do like their dark and moody visuals though; it's their "thing".

That overlarge cut-out balcony to the rear will definitely be the first thing to go when the clients budget is blown.
