Fire-hit East Kilbride terrace to be rebuilt

Planning permission is sought to reconstruct five terraced properties in East Kilbride following a devastating fire.

The Whitelee properties were left uninhabitable following last year's blaze, which swept through the terrace, gutting each property in turn. Now Sedgwick International has shown how the street can be rebuilt.

Referencing the established built form of two-storey houses connected by single-storey garages the plans would deliver two central 1.5-storey homes bookended by three two-storey properties.

In a statement Sedgwick wrote: "... the rear roofline is retained throughout all 5 houses, only differentiating where required in the front elevation - matching the building form on the neighbouring Mill Rigg."

New homes will be finished in a mix of brown/buff brick and white render.
