Giant residential quarter planned for former Edinburgh packaging plant

New details of a residential-led development at Edinburgh's Maybury Quarter have been shared ahead of a second round of consultation.

Summix Capital and 3DReid will show off its latest plans for a 15.5-acre site at Turnhouse Road, formerly home to the Saica packaging facility, on 11 September ahead of a planning application later in the year.

Incorporating a range of senior living, commercial and retail uses the proposals promise 1,000 homes, including tenure blind affordable properties and rental apartments, alongside a 120-150 room hotel - all enveloped by new green spaces and public realm.

Stuart Black, development director for Summix Capital, said: “Our exciting proposals provide a unique opportunity to redevelop one of the last major pieces of brownfield land in the city into a brand-new, sustainable mixed-use community.

“This will ensure that Maybury Quarter Edinburgh fulfils our vision to be one of the most exciting and best-connected development sites in Scotland.”

The second round consultation will be held on Wednesday at Delta Hotels by Marriott, 111 Glasgow Rd.
