Consultations resume for Hawick High replacement
August 14 2024
Scottish Borders Council has fired the starting gun on consultations to deliver a new High School in Hawick – three years on from initial consultations.
The long awaited school replacement project has been on the cards since 2021 and will see a £56.6m building by Stallan-Brand built on the site of the existing school on land between the adjacent cricket club and older school properties.
Councillor Leagh Douglas, said:“This formal phase of consultation represents an important stage in the development of a new high school for Hawick. It’s a crucial stage where the local community can view and feedback on the current proposed plans.
“This feedback and engagement helps us identify the priorities for the school and refine the overall proposal…”
More controversially the current vision would entail the complete demolition of the original 1860 building. The latest consultation opens on 27 August at Hawick High School between 17:00 and 20:00.

Then I'll huff, and I'll puff, and I'll blow your house in...
