Mews home leads Park district office to residential conversion

Klash Properties and Inkdesign have come forward with plans for a detached mews home to the rear of Sandyford Place in the Park conservation area of Glasgow.

Replacing an existing extension dating from the 1980s, last used as a garage and office space, the planned works aim to blend into the established district with a traditional pitched roof design.

Outlining their proposals Inkdesign wrote: "The new building is designed in a contemporary architectural language, traditional in form, taking its lead from the scale, proportion and materiality of traditional mews properties in the Park Conservation area.

It is designed to blend in with the surrounding built environment, finished in a natural sandstone and natural slated pitched roof chosen to complement the existing listed building.

"The development provides an opportunity to inhabit and activate the existing lane within the redevelopment of an unused building will act as a catalyst for Sandyford Place Lane."

The remainder of the site will provide private amenity space for the mews home as well as two flats planned for the main B-listed townhouse.

Outdoor amenity space will be provided for the mews and two planned flats in the main townhouse
