West Lothian Council has taken possession of the £18.3m East Calder Primary following its completion by Hub South East and Morrison Construction.

The Norr-designed school is set to welcome pupils for the start of the new term next month and follows the delivery of new schools at Winchburgh, West Calder and Calderwood.

Eileen Mackin, Hub South East's project director, said: "The new East Calder Primary School has a unique design, includes a mixture of flexible collaborative and individual workspaces and makes excellent use of its surroundings, with access to outdoor play and learning spaces."

Attention has now turned to landscaping and the demolition of the old school, save for a recent Early Years extension which will be retained.
