Dunblane nursing home expansion to deliver 20 beds
July 12 2024
A nursing home in Dunblane, Stirling, is set for expansion under plans to build a 20-bed standalone nursing unit.
Gilberts Architects are working with Randolph Hill Nursing Homes Group to build a bolt-on extension to the existing 60-bed facility, completed in 2006, on what was part of the grounds to the Dunblane Hydro.
Increased capacity and variety of rooms will help to meet accommodation demand as well as the provision of more generous communal spaces, common rooms and visitor facilities.
In a statement, the architects wrote: "The project facilitates intensified use of the existing site without any detriment to the surroundings.
"The new care home provides greatly enhanced amenities for residents of the new building with larger room sizes, common spaces, wider corridor widths and supplementary amenities such as improved kitchen and laundry services."
Making use of stone gables, curtain-walled winter gardens for each resident and cedral cladding the extension adopts a domestic scale on a narrow site north of the existing north wing that will necessitate rerouting a path to the hotel.
