Rival housebuilders team up to deliver Stirling super village

Two rival housebuilders are to collaborate on the delivery of over 3,000 homes on the outskirts of Stirling to get the delayed Durieshill Village project back on schedule.

After steering the project through the design and planning process Springfield Properties will sell parcels of the site to Barratt for the development of infrastructure.

Both builders will then commence the delivery of both private and affordable homes. To accommodate the planned community the existing Roman Road will have to be upgraded to cope with increased traffic together with improving the capacity of the local electrical grid and sewerage system.

Douglas McLeod, regional managing director for Barratt Developments Scotland, commented: “The provision of quality homes in this underserved area will not only offer much needed choice to local home seekers, it will support local employment and create demand for new amenities and services too. This is why we are investing so significantly in crucial infrastructure to serve the area, as well as making provisions for schools, shops and community spaces.”

Initial groundworks are due to begin later this year.
