Haircut earns Ocean Point a pass from planners

A major mixed-use development in Leith has been given the all-clear from planners following a small reduction in height.

Alterations from the initial application have seen the decorative crown removed from both towers and the loss of a single floor from one tower so they are no longer equal in height.

Ocean Point 2 by S. Harrison Developments and CDA is an £80m development combining 112 build-to-rent apartments with 404 student beds and elements of co-working and commercial space fronting Ocean Drive.

A spokesperson for the developer said: “This will serve to deliver much-needed homes and student accommodation to an area which is undergoing a rapid transformation, delivering a truly mixed sustainable neighbourhood.

“Regenerating a current brownfield site, this development boasts excellent transport links, especially with the new tram line, and will deliver a significant investment into the local area."

Improved public realm is also planned as part of the development which capitalises on the new tram link to Edinburgh.

I do have the say that looking at this and the previous - fair play to CEC, this looks better. In saying that though, hopefully the scheme falls through as an empty site looks even better than this
