South Queensferry expansion to deliver hundreds of homes

The town of South Queensferry to the west of Edinburgh is set for significant expansion under new housing plans unveiled by CALA Homes (East).

Rosebery Wynd will augment the adjacent Queensferry Heights estate by the same developer, delivering a mix of apartments and townhouses with expansive views across the Firth of Forth.

Kim Newbigging, regional sales manager at Cala Homes (East), said: “It is an exciting new development and part of a vibrant new community within this sought-after area.

“The location provides the perfect blend of everything you need for a balanced mix of urban city living and coastal life, with plenty of walking and cycling routes along the picturesque Firth of Forth coastline and fantastic commuter links to Edinburgh city centre."

The latest launch means the developer is now committed to well over 1,000 homes in the town.

A mix of apartments and townhouses are planned for the town's southern fringe

Can't we please just have a little bit of joy, something that responds to the setting of the bridges? Something that we are proud of?

#1 I totally agree. The birds eye image should be the knockout view, and yet my very first impression of this with the beige row of three storey blocks is that it looks like it’s been snipped from any provisional town in the central belt built in 70s or 80s and photoshopped in with the three stunning bridges in the background. Also, this is Cala, these will be sold at Edinburgh’s overinflated prices and yet this just looks like its been value engineered to death from the start.

Well if that's the best our own "luxury house builder" can come up with, god help us all..

#1 - There are a minimum of two benches visible from the visuals. What more joy do you want?

We've been promised a supermarket, a primary school and an, ahem, "nature corridor". These renders already look a million miles from the original plans that were approved, so not holding my breath...

These blocks close to the fabulous communal paved area shown in the renders, across the road from a petrol station no less, are currently under construction. On my frequent drives past the site I have been wondering what architectural sights might be in store and now I know. The mix of pitched, flat and hipped roof styles is really ground breaking.
