Stirling positions itself to capitalise on a steady stream of film studios

40 acres of ex Ministry of Defence land at Forthside, on the fringe of Stirling city centre, are to be put back into action as a film campus.
Stirling Studios, led by Stirling Council, will cater to the increasing demand for production facilities arising from the boom in streaming entertainment. To realise these ambitions the authority has taken possession of the land through the £224m Stirling and Clackmannanshire City Region Deal, emphasising retention and refurbishment of existing buildings rather than sweeping demolition.
Championing the development council leader, Cllr Chris Kane said: “We have an opportunity to embed an industry in our city which will bring thousands of high-skilled jobs, put us on a global creative map and deliver a significant economic boost to the region over many decades.
“By making innovative use of the existing buildings on a former military site, we are creating a studio campus that will provide everything film producers need to meet demand in a thriving sector."
The sprawling site is deemed suitable for 100,000 sq ft of studio space and a further 110,000 sq ft for production, logistics and offices.

It is the assembly / screwdriver plant vibe of the 70's and 80's updated for the digital age -- surely our politicians must know that content production is episodic / short term contract work with a track record for exploiting its workforce if it can get away with it.
We would appear to be chasing after all to mobile capital looking for cheap labour and tax breaks.
We need to produce / finance / write the content as well as make it.
Why do we need others to tell our stories?
Can we not do it for ourselves?
