Chapelton New Town builds momentum with 220 further homes
April 16 2024
The largest development phase thus far at an Aberdeenshire New Town has begun with the construction of 220 homes.
Social enterprise Places for People carried out a sod-cutting ceremony in Chapelton to mark the occasion, the latest step towards creating an 8,000-home community eight miles from Aberdeen city centre.
Delivered in partnership with Elsick Development Company the homes include a variety of properties for private sale, as more affordable shared equity, mid-market rent and social rent options.
David Carnegie, the Duke of Fife, said: "We have a long-term vision for Chapelton as a sustainable new town designed to meet the needs of residents and create opportunities now and for generations to come. We are pleased to reach this significant milestone, which will include Chapelton’s first school, as we launch the latest and largest phase of development...”
Conceived as an agglomeration of distinct neighbourhoods, with shops, business space and cafes. The latest phase will centre on Geddes Square flanked by several shops and active travel routes with a large park sitting at the heart of the town, designed by Brooks Murray Architects.
