'Eco-friendly' Kilmacolm home finds favour with planners

Inverclyde Council has awarded planning consent for an 'eco-friendly' home at Port Glasgow Road, Kilmacolm.
A garden plot close to the village centre has been chosen for the build, which will be finished in an off-white harled render with a sandstone door reveal, echoing the Old Kirk Church next door.
Sitting below a traditional slate roof the property has been designed by ATA Studio to open onto remaining gardens with a patio and a fully glazed flat roof extension.
In a design statement, the applicant wrote: "Our retired clients would like to create a comfortable efficient home for life with substantial accommodation on the ground floor to suit their changing needs.
"The prominent location and proximity to the village centre demand careful consideration of the form and scale of the proposal."
The home provides on-the-level living with an upper floor reserved for guest and office accommodation.
