Pedestrian bridge to take pride of place in Leith
February 23 2024
The City of Edinburgh Council is seeking views on its plans for the redesign of a key road bridge and public space in Leith.
The Lindsay Road Bridge, alternatively known as Leith Pride Bridge, has reached the end of its usable life and must be replaced, prompting the authority to engage Sustrans and engineers Mott MacDonald to design a replacement.
Known for its eye-catching rainbow paintwork the crossing will be renewed in consultation with the local community as part of Leith Connections, a bid to join up public spaces throughout the area.
Kasper Schwartz, grant advisor for Sustrans, said: "The Pride Bridge is not only a key walking, wheeling and cycling link for communities surrounding the Hawthornvale Path, it is also an iconic symbol of enduring support for LGBTQ+ people everywhere."
An online consultation detailing the plans will run until 4 April.
