Inverkip home to embrace the River Clyde

A distinctive Inverkip home once the residence of Sir Robert McAlpine is to be joined by a new neighbour under plans submitted by the present owner.

The masonry form of Bell House, designed and built by the industrialist, provides the template for a four-bedroom home which echoes the use of extensive glazing and a covered carport.

Designed by Rebecchi Architectural the detached residence sits to the northwest, separated from the main house by dense vegetation. In a statement, the applicant wrote: "The house has been oriented to maximise the views over the River Clyde to the west and make best use of the natural sunlight. The house will be accessed via a short drive at the end of Langhouse Road leading to a two-space carport."

Switching out brick for light brown composite cladding and light render the property includes a double-height entrance hall and living space extending on top an outdoor terrace.

A tour de force in why it's always wise to use an architect.

The design statement reads like a work experience project by an S4.
