Glendronach Distillery to boost visits with a walled garden makeover
February 16 2024
An Aberdeenshire distillery is putting its best foot forward under plans to remodel a visitor centre and walled garden to improve its tourism offer.
Glendronach Distillery has enlisted Loader Monteith and RankinFraser for the overhaul, centred on the B-listed Boynsmill House and grounds to create a more upmarket experience.
Outlining the extent of the works the architects wrote: "The intention of the wider scheme is to revitalise the entire complex of Glendronach Distillery, to improve amenities and create a memorable experience for the visitors. The proposals must balance creating an impactful, exciting arrival point to the complex without compromising of its notable historic setting, fabric and character."
Windows on the main house will be replaced and repaired as required, connecting to its grounds with a new patio and accessible paved route connecting to the walled garden. The walled garden will be brought to life with natural stone accented with Corten Steel, bringing a contemporary edge to the space which will also include new paving and a mix of timber and steel furniture.
