The Scottish Design Awards judging panel for 2024 is revealed
February 15 2024
The Scottish Design Awards 2024 are pleased to present our twin judging panels for our 2024 awards, a handpicked team drawn from across the country with experience ranging from practice to academia and local government.
Each judge will face the daunting task of elevating the best architecture and design projects of the past 12 months above the din of the crowd, showcasing work that stands as an example to us all. The diverse line-up straddles the worlds of construction and design, shouting the successes of homegrown talent and serving as a springboard for future success.
Among those taking part is Richard Pearson, creative director at Dentsu Manchester who said: “There is, of course, all of the essential elements of design that I will be looking out for. Craft, beauty, use, insight and a certain uniqueness. But the thing that is absolutely key for me with all great design is how people interact with it, does it connect with the world, does it bring excitement, wonder and joy.”
Joining Pearson on the other side of the design divide is PADstudio founder and design director Wendy Perring who added: “I will be looking for innovative designs with strong narrative qualities that minimise their environmental impact and promote sustainability. I will look for designs that integrate and enhance their settings, fostering a deeper understanding of the surrounding context.”
Entries are now open for the event, with early birds enjoying discounted rates until 8 March. The Scottish Design Awards are supported by Urban Realm, The DRUM, Nordan, Vision Events Glasgow, Porcelanosa Scotland, NARRO, BoConcept and Rock Rose
