Ayr Grammar School is set to become a flagship headquarters under plans to revitalise the C-listed building as a town centre destination.

ARPL Architects is leading a series of interventions to the former school, transforming it into a retail and hospitality destination including new homes on behalf of Creative Designs - an Ayr-based kitchen firm.

Planned works would open up the foyer with a contemporary zinc-clad entrance porch, leading to a series of showrooms arranged around a central dining hall and restaurant.

Tom Coughtrie, managing director of Creative Designs, said: "We aim to bring a new flagship HQ to Ayr - a town centre destination."

The first floor, an ancillary structure and a janitor's house would be converted to apartments as part of the plans, the latter receiving a matching zinc extension.
