Offset house trio to seed a town centre Crieff community

Corryard, the Crieff-based construction business, is turning its attentions closer to home with proposals to build three homes on the site of its offices on Milnab Street.

The 1980s brick building will be demolished, freeing up the surrounding yard for the development of flat-roofed homes designed by Eolas Architects, each oriented around a south-facing garden and offset from its neighbour to maximise daylight and privacy.

Finished in stone, vertical timber and roughcast render the properties seek to display a modern aesthetic while respecting the characteristics of the conservation area.

In a design statement, Eolas wrote: "... the proposal will create a small community for the residents of the development with a unique house design creating a sense of identity and incorporating cycle stores, existing trees and outdoor space to the front and rear of the properties."

Historic remnants from past uses of the site such as stone walls and sliding doors of a former barn, as well as boundary walls and a brick substation, will be retained. A stone mass acoustic baffle wall will also be built to absorb the electrical hum emanating from the latter.

Shared social connections between the properties will be encouraged
