Sunset at three in the afternoon can mean only one thing, Christmas is just around the corner, so we are off to fight our way through hordes of shoppers to stock up on mince pies.

In the meantime, things will be a little quiet here but that's an excellent opportunity to dive into our archives to review the year month by month at your own pace.

As well as a tidal wave of build-to-rent and student apartments 2023 brought us news of a new Burns visitor centre, calls for an Art Deco tower to rise again and gave us our first glimpse of a 21st-century castle.

It was also the year architects pushed back against PPP and toasted a North Lanarkshire School that makes learning fun.

We don't yet know what 2024 will bring but we do know we'll be here to tell you all about it from 8 January. Until then we leave you with a selection of some of the cards we have received. Merry Christmas!
