Wheatley Homes South with ECD Architects have shared plans to build 112 affordable homes on vacant agricultural land at Thornhill, Dumfries & Galloway.

A mix of semi-detached, terraced houses and bungalows are proposed for the site as part of a large suburban extension of the village to the south which has planning in principle.

Connecting to the existing settlement via a new access road off Townhead Street, behind Thornhill Hospital, the homes will employ a restrained colour palette of red, cream and grey.

In a design statement, the architects wrote: "By using the midtones for building accents such as window surrounds or doors we would be able to keep the elevations simple in terms of build-ability without compromising place-making and a sense of place."

Replicating the vertical window arrangement of traditional properties in the village the dormitory extension will segregate vehicles on shared surface routes to permit the creation of 'active courtyards' for community use, rest and play with homes clustered around.

How much are the bungalows and how many bedrooms do they have please.
