Unsafe Dennistoun flats to be repaired
October 10 2023
Lee Boyd Architects are to repair the B-listed former Duke Street Hospital following the evacuation of residents from a previous residential conversion carried out by Cooper Cromar in 2000.
Structural issues identified in 2014 forced its closure with temporary works at that time including props to the front facade and oriel window to protect against lateral movement, which remain in place.
All 17 flats contained within are due to be refurbished by the Wheatley Group with the ground floor management office set to be converted to provide an additional two flats and replacement gas combi boilers to comply with the latest safety regulations.
Facade work will include the application of new dry dash render over current brickwork to secondary elevations with the primary French Renaissance style facade left unchanged.
A new gate and slabbed path will improve pedestrian access to the rear.

As an aside, its hardly a 'Glasgow Curse' is it. Old derelict buildings go on fire throughout the UK. To call it a 'Glasgow Curse' is very mumsnet.
