Hundreds of South Queensferry homes to address Edinburgh housing crisis

Lovell has broken ground on a 398-home development at South Queensferry, including 100 properties for social rent and 14 commercial units.

The Crossings at Bridgewater Village is a mixed-tenure development delivered in partnership with Sanctuary Scotland for the social rent element and Sigma Capital for private rental properties, with Lovell handling private sales directly.

Sarah Freel, head of partnerships at Lovell, said: “With views of the historic Forth bridges and great access to amenities, this development is certain to be one of Edinburgh’s most desirable neighbourhoods.

“Today’s sod-cutting ceremony marks the start of this exciting new community, which will become home to many families over the coming years.”

Incorporating active travel routes, solar panels and stormwater landscaping the 20-minute neighbourhood is being positioned as an escape valve for Edinburgh's overheated housing market.

Hundreds of dull unimaginative little monopoly box houses.

Why is it legal to build such utter garbage?? Given the direction of travel, and how anti-demolition things are going, why are not more people worried that we will no be stuck with these for eternity??

Low density car centric garbage development will not address "Edinburgh housing crisis". If anything it will expand its choking traffic crisis.

I'm not sure about the other commitments, but you should try living in South Queensferry now, with that and Cala homes building around 170? just round the corner from the above, it's becoming just like Livingston.
I had a panoramic view of the Ochil Hills until a few weeks ago when this view just disappeared.
Heart breaking!

Must be able to see through walls to get a view of the bridges from there. All these building sites have completely destroyed the local green belt. I do hope the new residents enjoy motorway traffic and possible low flying aircraft from Edinburgh Airport in the future.
