A new high school covering south & west Fife is to be built on land at Admiralty Park, Rosyth, by AHR.
A direct replacement for the existing Inverkeithing High the new school will make use of 12 hectares of open ground on the western fringe of the town to provide outdoor learning and extensive sports facilities, with visual connections to the docks and Forth bridges.
Part of a design team that includes Goodson Associates, Rybka and BAM the zoned approach groups learning and teaching facilities to the north with open aspects across farmland visible from upper levels.
This north elevation will become the public face of the school addressing a planned entrance plaza with social spaces situated to the south.
In a statement, AHR wrote: "The design will create a strong identity based on local influences to help develop a ‘brand’ for the new school.
"The building form has developed from the initial concept based on the key themes of Health & Wellbeing, Gathering and Learning & Teaching. These elements have been arranged in a linear format to allow each aspect to respond to the specific context of the site.
"The industrial nature of Rosyth is captured within the design and applied in particular to the entrances to visually contrast and identify the main entrance areas."
Public art will be commissioned to anchor the £80m school will have a capacity of 1,735 pupils and adhere to Passivhaus principles. It is expected to be handed over in 2026.
