Merchiston garden room clears planning
July 4 2023
A bid to bootstrap a traditional Victorian home at Polwarth Terrace in the Merchiston & Greenhill Conservation area of Edinburgh has been green-lit by planners.
Two extensions on two levels are proposed by dsarchitecture to better manage a change in level across the site, putting the garden to good advantage by pushing a new kitchen and informal living area out.
A separate side extension will provide a new front entrance as well as additional storage.
Granting consent the chief planning officer wrote: "The proposed works to the dwelling will preserve the character and appearance of the conservation area and are in accordance with the development plan. The works are compatible with the existing dwelling and surrounding neighbourhood character and will not result in an unreasonable loss of neighbouring amenity."
A start on-site will be made later this year. Image reproduced courtesy Dalgety Design.
